Production Engineering Unit:

Dynamic and in unison with Research Unit and in the field of contemplating Research Projects, the Production Engineering Unit of The Mobile Communications Technologies Company is also active and was able to undertake manufacturing of BSS systems and their Quality Control.

Noting the high technology of design and manufacture of Cellular Mobile Network equipments, its production has a special importance. Procuring components with essential quality, preparing the boards (up to 6 layers) and the units, the necessity of using proper test and evaluation instruments, signifies the major role of Production Engineering Unit. Since any mistake in using or negligence in proper usage of the components and related assembly, in the setup of a million components and how to operate them can be a great short come for an ideal product.

This kind of accuracy particularly in the production of RF boards operating with high frequencies has a two-fold significance since even a slight neglect in the way of soldering of a component can produce side effects (noise, power drop and etc), which this type of fault finding can be harsher than the production itself.

It must be also noted that in one hand producing a rack consistent with the environmental and geographic conditions of Iran and on the other hand the convenience of placing the units inside it for the purpose of installation and assembly and also interconnections of the boards with the shortest distance possible and optimum wiring and displacement of the units and the ease of repairing them, requires a kind of planning, experience and expertise, which the employees of MCT Production Engineering Unit have acquired gradually and over the years and used them in the production process, in a manner that MCT products are at the level of global distinctions.

The Production unit covers an area of 1300-squared meter and the employees working in this unit are mostly skilled engineers and technicians constituting the following sections:

The work implementation stages in this section include five phases of Study, design, simulation and finally the project rollout, testing and delivery.

             ·         The Study Phase: In this phase the sources of preliminary study concerning the general topics of the project are collected and then standards and technical documents necessary for planning the software are prepared.

·         The Software Planning Phase: In this part the general planning is prepared and subsequently the specified details of the plan are distributed among different personnel involved in the project.

·         The Simulation Phase: Each employee in unison with the management conducts programming and simulation and subsequently these programs are linked together and tested initially.

·         The Rollout Phase: In this phase noting the hardware, which is normally DSP processors translate the software into DSP particular language and then the entire project as a program linked with the other parts of research is prepared accordingly.

·         The Test and Delivery Phase: In this phase all of the standard test processes are conducted and the program is prepared for field trial. In the field trial possible faults are also cleared.

c) Software Group:

GSM is a sophisticated system, which consists of various and divers constituents. It is imperative that optimum management and control of such a system, requires state of the art Maintenance facilities and operations.

This is made feasible through MMI software, for all network elements such as BTS, BSC, and OMC. Using this powerful software is convenient and is capable of future development and also consistency and linking with the added auxiliary applications.

To reach the abovementioned objectives, the following tasks incorporated in the MMI software:

-          Fault Management:

Fault Management can be divided into four main categories:

·         Fault Detection

·         Fault Restoration (clearing the fault)

·         Saving the Fault

·         Fault logging

The user has also online access to the maintenance documents, which provides him/her with complementary data regarding the fault and how to diagnose that particular fault.

-          The Test Management:

Testing the failure is a significant case and relates to the fault process and subsequent repair and restoration of defect units. As far as the fault management is concerned one of the initial duties in the process of testing, shall be locating and confirming the detected faults in a particular hardware unit.

-          Function Management

The tasks of Function Management include viewing the Traffic Load and the Network Functioning. The measuring parameters of short term and long term Traffic signify the functioning and quality of the service stored by the system and is accessible.

-          Configuration Management:

In this section all of the primary system configurations, proceeding with secondary configurations are contemplated. Operator can fulfill the operations of creating, deleting or locking/unlocking, activating/deactivating, initializing parameters and viewing values of these parameters.

-          Security Management

In MMI software along with the Database a mechanism exists which permits only the authorized individuals to access and operate on the system. This mechanism include the following cases:

  • Whether the user was previously registered by the system?
  • Uniqueness of the user requesting access to the system
  • The rights and levels of the access, according to the rights and access levels, which was recently registered in the system (Database) for the requesting user.

-          Mode Management:

All changes of Mode are displayed for the user graphically (color, shape, flashing) and/or in text.

-          Software Management

MMI software provides the user with different utilities so he/she can conduct software management conveniently. This sort of management can be separated into two parts. The first part relates to the management of various GSM system units software(s) including the following:

·         Loading BSS Software(s) (obtained from the manufacturer) on the system (using a floppy, CD, USB Flash)

·         Downloading these software(s) on the related units

·         Maintaining software(s) with different Versions

·         Activating the intended software(s)

·         Deleting the intended software(s)

The second part relates to the management of system Database.

MMI software architecture is in a way that to be independent from the system hardware plan as far as possible and also conforming with the current and prevailing standards of a application software.

The following indicates the main MMI software specifications.

Operating system                                Linux System

Windowing System                            X-window System

Implementation Model                       Object-Oriented Environment

Coded Language                                C++ Language Coded
